Skiddaw is the ideal base for exploring the lesser known West Lakes throughout the changing seasons. Skiddaw has been cleverly built with the bedrooms on the ground floor so that the fully open plan living area on the first floor really takes advantage of some breathtaking views across the open countryside.
There are impressive beams and a private terrace with furniture, accessed via patio doors, where you can enjoy the lovely views towards the slopes of magnificent Skiddaw, after which the cottage is named.
The kitchen is fully equipped with A rated appliances in keeping with the eco-friendly ethos.
On the ground floor there are two bedrooms - a double and a zip link twin that can also be a double if required - both with en-suite shower rooms with a hand basin and WC.
Underfloor heating is generated by a ground source heat pump, and the owners have maximised the position of the windows and used solar panels to make the 2 cottages at Southwaite Green as green as possible.
You'll want to spend as much time as possible outside here as there are 10 acres to explore, rich with trees and wildlife.
The pond and arboretum play host to squirrels, while a heron often visits the pond and there's some years a resident barn owl. Please unload in the yard and then park your car in the car park across the beck.
Though this award-winning development is the ideal place to recharge your batteries in peace and tranquility, bustling Keswick with its shops, bars and restaurants is just 15 minutes away.
Skiddaw is ideally placed to explore the lesser known West Lakes like Buttermere, Crummock Water and Ennerdale, winner of Britain's Best View. There are plenty of walking and cycling opportunities locally.
The Lake District is Britain's favourite country park, and no wonder. There's so much to do and enjoy from family attractions and outdoor life, to award-winning fine dining destinations.
With its high standards of accommodation and superb location, Skiddaw is perfect for a family or two couples and their well behaved dogs to explore all the delights that the Lake District has to offer, whatever the time of year. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 972321, 972322, and 972323, together sleeping up to 20 guests.

"Our cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped."
The properties are set within lovely grounds which were perfect for our dogs too. Well placed to explore the west Lakes, Keswick and Winlatter. We have family in Cockermouth which has a range of shops and only 5 minutes away. We've stayed in lots of holiday cottages in the Lakes, this has been the best and we will definitely visit again!!

"We enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay in Skiddaw."
The property was immaculate and really cosy on the autumn nights. We loved the little patio area with beautiful views. It was so handy for Cockermouth and nor too far from Keswick. The grounds of the property were heaven for our dog! Would highly recommend!

"Another lovely short stay at the cottage, lovely and cosy and lots of fuel for the wood burner."
The cottage has everything you need with a lovely walk for our golden oldie retriever. We also got a free market garden veggie box which was lovely. We have an electric car and it was so convenient being able to charge on site. Would recommend.

"Our cottage exceeded expectations."
The location is exceptional. It is one of 3 or 4 cottages in a secluded area where the owner also has a home. The bedrooms are very spacious, the upside down living works wonderfully well with beautiful views of the surrounding land and mountains. This is definitely somewhere to go if you are seeking peace and tranquillity on a holiday. The commitment to green living is clear and welcome. Would certainly consider visiting again.
